Police said driver's blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

Darien police arrested Gary L. Taylor, 28, of the 400 block of Kingston in Romeoville, at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday, May 13, in the 700 block of 75th Street.

According to police reports, Taylor was driving 84 mph in a 40-mph zone, and after officers pulled him over, Taylor and a female passenger both got out of the car’s passenger side door.

Taylor spoke with slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol and told police he was drunk, the report said. His blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit, according to a Breathalyzer test.
