Police Blotter: Crooks Target Business, Steal $14,000

1. Vandal shoots out window

Someone used a BB gun to shoot the window and screen of a home in the 1700 block of Raleigh, police said, causing $150 in damage.

An employee at a business in the 300 block of Eaton discovered that someone used an unknown weapon to damage a car parked in a public lot, causing $500 in damage, according to police records.

Aug. 3

3. Thousands stolen from Route 53 business

A thief or thieves burglarized a business in the 1100 block of Independence, making off with cash and damaging the building in the process. The loss to the business, including cost of repairs, is estimated at $14,000, police said.

4. Vandals damage cars

The doors of two cars parked in front of a home in the 400 block of Murphy were damaged with a sharp object sometime before 8:10 a.m., according to police. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $300.

5. Thief nabs $1,500 trailer

Someone stole a Demco trailer worth $1,500 that was left parked in front of a business in the 1200 block of Naperville Drive, police said.

6. Resident’s window smashed

An unknown person broke a window at a home in the 300 block of Kent, causing an estimated $250 in damage, according to a police report.

7. Vandal targets swimming pool

Someone used a sharp object to cause $400 in damage to a pool in the yard of a home in the 600 block of Murphy, police said.

8. Bicycle thief strikes

A bicycle left on the front porch of a home in the 200 block of Haller was stolen, police said. The bike is worth an estimated $230.
