Even though we take driving without a license, no car insurance and retail theft seriously, I am thankful that the crime in Romeoville is nothing like it is in the City of Chicago.

Why shouldn't driving without a license, no car insurance and retail theft be taken seriously? You may think these are petty offenses, but this gives a town a reputation. Guess what happens when more and more people drive without licenses and insurance? Higher insurance rates for those that do pay. Guess what happens when retail theft goes unpunished? Businesses leave town, leaving the town with less tax revenue, meaning less services for the community and less jobs for the residents. If the police let everyone go for these petty crimes, the town would turn into a hood in no time.

John my comment was:

So before you go off on people, I never once thought or said these crimes are petty offenses. I am merely grateful that we have these types of crimes vs. having a loved one killed each and every day due to the violence in Chicago. Who the fuck said anything about people going unpunished? What the hell are you talking about?
