Police Blotter: $40,000 Heist, Criminal Damage to Property & Theft of Passports

Romeoville police were called to handle the following incidents during the period from Aug. 10-20.

Aug. 10: A resident of the 1500 block of Baytree Drive reported a residential burglary. The front door was damaged and several pieces of jewelry were taken by unknown person(s). Estimated value of the items is unknown at this time. Time: 3:24 p.m.

Aug. 12: A resident of the 400 block of Windcrest Drive reported a residential burglary. Passports and social security cards were taken by unknown person(s). Time: 9:15 p.m.

Aug. 12: A resident of the 700 block of Essex reported a burglary to motor vehicle. Two packs of cigarettes were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the street. The resident chased the subject but was unable to catch him. Time: 10:29 p.m.

Aug. 13: A resident of the 0-100 block of Elgin reported a burglary to motor vehicle. A stereo faceplate and Ipod were taken by unknown person(s) from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in front of the residence. Estimated value of the times is $380. Time: 1:06 a.m.

Aug. 13: A resident of the 0-100 block of Harmony Lane reported a criminal damage to property. The windshields of two vehicles that were parked in the alley were broken by unknown person(s). Estimated cost of the damage is $500. Time: 9:13 a.m.

Aug. 14: A resident of the 200 block of Highpoint Drive reported a burglary to motor vehicle. A wallet was taken from an open vehicle by unknown person(s). Estimated vaule of the wallet is $110. Time: 9:51 p.m.

Aug. 15: A resident of the 100 block of Highpoint Drive reported a criminal damage to property. An unknown substance was poured into the gas tank of a parked vehicle. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $800. Time: 3:31 p.m.

Aug. 15: An employee of a business located in the 1400 block of Enterprise reported a theft over $500. A semi-trailer chassis, metal shipping container and plastic scraps were taken by unknown person(s) from the parking lot. The value of the plastic is unknown at this time. The other articles are valued at $40,000. Time: 4:05 p.m.

Aug. 17: A resident of the 200 block of Daisy Circle reported a criminal damage to property. Unknown person(s) snapped a board of the resident's fence. Estimated cost to repair the damage is $150. Time: 7:20 p.m.

Aug. 19: A property preservation employee reported a burglary in the 1900 block of Cobblestone road. Unknown person(s) broke into the home and took the water heater and copper pipe. Estimated value of the items is $400. Time: 10:35 a.m.

Aug. 20: A customer of a business located in the 400 block of North Weber Road reported a theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen by unknown person(s) from a vehicle that was parked in the business lot. Estimated cost of the part is $200. Time: 5:46 p.m.
