A prearranged drug sale that ended up being a double-cross resulted in one man being shot and another facing felony charges, Joliet Police Capt. Tab Jensen said Monday.

The shooting occurred at about 11:10 p.m. Thursday, when the victim arranged to meet a woman in the 100 block of East Benton Street in order to sell her some cannabis, Jensen said. The woman didn't show but three men -- including 21-year-old Kennedy Wesley Jordan -- did, he said.

The three men intended to take the victim's stash, but quickly realized he did not have any marijuana on him, Jensen said. It's not clear what the victim's intent had been in regards to the woman with whom he'd arranged the deal.

A struggle ensued between the victim and the men, Jensen said. A gun was pulled and the victim shot, prompting the suspects to flee, he said.

However, police were able to identify Jordan, of 254 S. Adler Creek, Romeoville, whom they arrested and booked into the Will County jail early Saturday morning on charges of attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery.

Jordan's two accomplices are still being sought. Police ask anyone with information to call 815-724-3020 or Crimestoppers of Will County at 800-323-6734.

Jordan's bond was set at $75,000 Monday.
