No Injuries in Romeoville Garage Fire

Firefighters responded to blaze in the Wespark subdivision shortly after 2 a.m.

Seven people escaped unhurt from an early morning fire that destroyed an attached garage, fire officials said.

Battalion Chief Frank Blaskey said firefighters responded to the blaze at 51 Freesia Court shortly after 2 a.m.

Blaskey said there were seven people inside the home at the time of the garage fire.

“Everyone was out before we got there,” he said, adding there were no injuries.

The Red Cross helped provide the residents with a place to stay for the night, according to Blaskey.

“I don’t know how soon they’ll be able to get back into [the house],” Blaskey said, noting the house incurred some damage in the fire, while the garage was a total loss.

Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire on Friday morning, Blaskey said.
