Man Busted for Bringing Gun to Casino: Police

The Arizona man was spotted with a revolver under his jacket while gambling at one of the tables at Harrah's, Cmdr. Al Roechner said.

A 76-year-old Arizona man found himself cuffed and jailed Sunday after being spotted with a .38-caliber revolver while gambling at Harrah's Casino in downtown Joliet, police said.

Edgar A. Hoopiiaina, of Tuscon, was gambling at one of the tables when an employee observed he had a gun under his jacket, according to Joliet police Cmdr. Al Roechner.

Illinois may soon be getting a concealed carry law thanks to an appellate court ruling last week, but it's not in place yet and you'll still need a permit to do so. And even in Arizona, where there is a concealed carry law, guns are not allowed in casinos, Roechner said.

Hoopiiaina was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was released from the Will County jail Monday on $10,000 bond.
