Man Accused of Growing Marijuana

Police seized 25 plants during March 16 search.

A Romeoville man is facing drug charges after recovered 25 marijuana plants and 1,100 grams of cannabis during a search of his Everette Avenue home.

Assistant Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said Robert Rondinella, 34, was arrested March 16 after an ongoing drug investigation led to the discovery of the drugs.

Officers executing a search warrant at the home in the 400 block of Everette recovered the plants, along with equipment including a water system, lights and fans, Lucchesi said.

“It was a marijuana growing operation in the house,” he said.

Rondinella is charged with unlawful production of cannabis, possession of drug equipment and possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, police said.

Lucchesi said police also discovered more than one firearm at the home. The state’s attorney’s office is reviewing possible weapons charges, police said.

Rondinella was released from the Will County jail March 20 after posting $3,500 bond.
