Man Accused in Romeoville Car Theft Back in Jail

Jeremiah Komon is accused in connection with a car theft and burglary last winter.

A former Plainfield School District teacher who pleaded guilty to burglary is in jail again after being arrested for violating his parole.

According to CBS Chicago, Jeremiah Komon was arrested Sunday in Naperville on a bond forfeiture warrant after failing to appear in Will County court.

Komon, 34, a former Aux Sable Middle School teacher, was arrested in May in connection with the theft of a Jaguar left running outside a Romeoville gas station last winter.

Romeoville police said Komon jumped into the unoccupied car and sped away from the Speedway gas station. Police also accused Komon of burglarizing a car parked at a Romeoville Wendy's restaurant earlier the same day and stealing a debit card.

Romeoville Deputy Chief Steve Lucchesi said the stolen Jaguar was later found parked at an intersection in Chicago. A detective discovered the unoccupied vehicle, along with evidence that linked Komon to the crime, Lucchesi said.

Komon was initially charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, although that charge was later dropped, according to Will County court records. In June, Komon pleaded guilty to burglary. He was sentenced to 75 days in jail and given two years' probation.

On July 31, a judge issued a bond forfeiture warrant after Komon failed to appear in court, according to Will County records.

Last Sunday, Naperville police arrested him at a Metra commuter depot, "selling used but still valid weekend Metra tickets to people on the platform," according to CBS Chicago.

According to jail records, Komon now lives in the 4000 block of Colton Circle in Naperville. When he was arrested last May, he gave an address in unincorporated Plainfield.

According to CBS, he left District 202 in 2010.

On Aug. 6, Will County prosecutors filed a motion to have the probation revoked in Komon's burglary case. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.
