Teacher Placed on Leave After Romeoville Prostitution Sting

Case against Kevin M. Boles dates back to a September prostitution sting operation in Romeoville, according to police records.

Kevin Boles, the 40-year-old Joliet West High School teacher arrested in September for allegedly soliciting a prostitute in Romeoville, has been placed on administrative leave, according to a spokeswoman from the Joliet Township High School District.

Kristine Schlismann, director of community relations with JTHS District 2004, issued a statement to the media on Thursday addressing the Boles case.

"Joliet Township High School officials were notified of the arrest yesterday," the statement said. "Officials immediately began an investigation and are taking the matter very seriously.

"Mr. Boles has been placed on administrative leave and JTHS is following all District and School Board policies as the investigation continues."

Boles, who lives at 814 Mason, Joliet, was arrested on Sept. 24 on solicitation charges in the 1200 block of Lakeview Drive in Romeoville, where three hotels are located, according to a Sun-Times News Group report.

"This is a sting operation we do at the hotels a few times a year to act as a deterrent toward prostitution activity," stated Romeoville Police Chief Mark Turvey in the report.

Boles is listed as an English teacher and drama teacher on the JTHS website. He has been with the district for 15 years.
