Joliet Cops Bag Band of Burglars: Cops

The cops collared four teens and charged them with breaking into the home of a vacationing family.

Four teens broke into the home of a vacationing Joliet family but were arrested before they could make their getaway, police said.

Christopher Maka, 18, of 3902 Cherry Tree Court in Joliet and Aidan Pino, 18, of 1974 W. Brimstone Road in Romeoville both were charged with burglary, as were two unidentified minors, aged 16 and 17.

The 16-year-old was also charged with possession of a controlled substance due to the cops allegedly catching him with three hydrocodone pills. Maka was allegedly holding nine grams of marijuana and was charged with possession of cannabis.

The four were arrested after a neighbor spotted a teen punching the code into a garage door-opener keypad and entering a home on Lakeridge Drive Friday evening. The neighbor was suspicious because he knew the family living at that residence was out of the country, police said.

The neighbor called the cops, then reportedly looked on as three other teens followed the first one into the garage. The four spent about 20 minutes in the home before leaving through the back door and getting in a gray Honda Civic, police said.

The police reportedly showed up and stopped the Civic near the scene of the break-in. The four teens were in the car, as were debit cards and portable speakers taken from the house, police said.

Maka's Cherry Tree Court residence is less than a mile from the house on Lakeridge Drive.
