Hot Hands & Hot Lips: Police Arrest Lipstick Bandit

Carlos Jiminez was apprehended by Bolingbrook police after an attempted retail theft incident was aborted on Monday night at Walmart on South Bolingbrook Drive.

A man with hot hands—and even hotter lips—was apprehended by Bolingbrook police after he was caught with more than $400—61 tubes—of lipstick during an attempted heist at Walmart on South Bolingbrook Drive on Monday night, according to Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa.

Carlos Jiminez, 40, of 346 Greenwood, Bolingbrook, was charged with retail theft in excess of $300—a felony—and hauled away to jail after police smeared away his fictitious cover story, Rompa said.

Rompa said Jiminez was arrested after police were called to Walmart at 10:50 p.m. Monday in regards to a retail theft.

“The subject was eventually identified as Carlos Jiminez,” Rompa said. “It was alleged he was caught with over $400 (61 tubes) of lipstick, which he neglected to purchase and then supplied officers with a fictitious name.”

Rompa said officers eventually determined Jiminez’s real name and then discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant in the amount of $25,000. He was taken into custody, processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. His bail was set at $2,500.
