Four Charged with ID Theft After Romeoville Car Burglary

The quartet allegedly broke into a vehicle, then used stolen credit cards to attempt to make purchases in Romeoville.

Four people are accused of aggravated identity theft after allegedly attempting to use credit cards stolen in a vehicle burglary outside a Romeoville fitness center.

Romeoville Deputy Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said police responded to a call of a vehicle burglary around 11:08 p.m. June 23 at LifeTime Fitness, 1220 Lakeview Drive.

Responding officers found the window of the vehicle shattered, and the victim's purse and cell phone had been stolen, Lucchesi said.

While police were at LifeTime Fitness, a call came in regarding a suspicious person at a nearby gas station; police eventually tracked the person down at a Romeoville McDonald's, Lucchesi said.

"The person had items on the table from the victim's purse," Lucchesi said. As police took the man into custody, they were approached by three other people who were apparently with the man, he said.

Police said the victim's cell phone was found on the seat of the suspects' car, which also contained receipts from purchases made with the victim's credit card. One suspect had been able to purchase several gift cards from Walgreens, Lucchesi said.

Kevin Hester, 36, of the 7800 block of Ogden Avenue in Lyons; Brittian Richmond II, 26, of the 3415 block of 83rd Street in Woodridge; Keesha Hamilton-Henschel, 20, of the 2900 block of 45th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Shade Brown, 23, who is listed as homeless in police reports, were arrested and cahtged with aggravated identity theft.

Lucchesi said Hester and Brown also had Xanax pills in their possession, and were charged with possession of a controlled substance.
