Driver's Ed Instructor Charged with DUI

The district will not confirm whether football coach Jeffrey Kuna is still teaching driving courses.

Valley View officials declined to comment on whether a teacher and coach was removed from his post as a driver's ed instructor after a DUI arrest.

Last month the Beacon-News reported that Jeffrey Kuna, 38, of 25308 Federal Circle in Plainfield, was arrested after being stopped by Kendall County Sheriff’s Police around 3:21 a.m. at Route 126 and Schlapp Road in unincorporated Kendall County. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding, according to reports.

Kuna, a physical education teacher and head football coach, is listed as one of several driver’s education instructors on the RHS website but is reportedly no longer working in that capacity.

On Monday, Valley View Director of Community Relations Larry Randa said he could not discuss what impact, if any, the charge has had on Kuna’s status with the district. He declined to comment on reports that Kuna is no longer teaching driver's education.

“ … Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot comment at this time pending resolution of the issue,” Randa said in an e-mail.

According to the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s office, a status hearing in Kuna’s case is scheduled April 15.
