Cops: Drug Sweep Nets Arrest at RHS

K-9s were used to search school, parking lot.

An 18-year-old was arrested after a K-9 sniffed out 11 grams of marijuana in a parked car at , police said.

Romeoville Assistant Police Chief Steven Lucchesi said drug-detecting dogs from Romeoville, Joliet, Plainfield and Will County were used in the Nov. 15 search at RHS.

“A while back, the school had sent a request for us to do a K-9 search of the school for drugs,” Lucchesi said. On Tuesday, the dogs were used to conduct a sweep of hallways, lockers and vehicles at the high school.

The event resulted in one arrest, according to police.

“Drugs were found in one car,” Lucchesi said, adding the driver, an 18-year-old, was arrested. The case will be reviewed by the Will County State’s Attorney’s office to determine whether charges will be filed, he said.
