Valley View Student Nominated for Hockey Player of the Month

Vote now for Chicago Hawks player and Jamie McGee student Joshua Taylor.

A Jamie McGee Elementary School second-grader has the chance to become the Chicago Wolves Hockey February Player of the Month — and you can help.

Joshua Taylor, 8, was nominated for the honor through the Bright Start College Savings program.

According to mom Michelle Stark Taylor, the selection process "takes into account on-ice play, teamwork, leadership skills, sportsmanship and academics."

Joshua, a payer with the Chicago Hawks Mite B2, is facing off against young hockey players from Morton Grove, Woodridge, South Elgin and Des Plaines.

"I always try to do my best in the classroom and on the ice. I enjoy being a part of my team," Joshua said on his nomination profile.

The Player of the Month will get four VIP tickets to see a Chicago Wolves regular-season home game, a chance to meet with Wolves alumni and personnel during a game and Chicago Wolves merchandise. The winner's name will also be listed on the Chicago Wolves website.

You can vote once per day to help Joshua win; the winner will be announced after March 19.
