Three Good Samaritans Pull Driver From Fiery Crash

Wrong-way driver died on I-55 but these men rescued another driver from a mangled, burning SUV.

The driver who survived a crash on the Stevenson Expressway may owe his life to the quick actions of three Good Samaritans. Romeoville police officer Woodsman Jones, retired officer Wayne Young and Ernesto Irizarry spotted the fiery scene on Interstate 55 near Lemont Road early Sunday. A wrong-way driver slammed into an SUV and died. The driver of the SUV was unaware that flames were growing beneath his car.
