Men in Blue turned the faces of 47 underprivileged children from the Valley View School District red and white with excitement during a recent Christmas shopping extravaganza at the Romeoville Walmart.

Members of the Romeoville Police Department’s Fraternal Order of Police teamed with Walmart officials to come with the money—more than $5,000—to buy Christmas presents for the children during a Dec. 21 event at the store, located at 420 S. Weber Road.

And John Allen, a patrolman in the K-9 unit and the vice president of the Romeoville Fraternal Order of Police, shared these photographs with Patch in hopes they would help tell the story of the magical day.
