Blue Christmas: Romeoville Police Put a New Twist on an Old Elvis Hit

Members of the Fraternal Order of Police team up with officials at the Romeoville Walmart to make the season bright for underprivileged children in the Valley View School District.

Men in Blue turned the faces of 47 underprivileged children from the Valley View School District red and white with excitement during a recent Christmas shopping extravaganza at the Romeoville Walmart.

Members of the Romeoville Police Department’s Fraternal Order of Police teamed with Walmart officials to come with the money—more than $5,000—to buy Christmas presents for the children during a Dec. 21 event at the store, located at 420 S. Weber Road.

And John Allen, a patrolman in the K-9 unit and the vice president of the Romeoville Fraternal Order of Police, shared these photographs with Patch in hopes they would help tell the story of the magical day.
