The Joliet Junior College police department will host their next Special Olympics fundraiser, Cop on a Rooftop, at the Dunkin Donuts across from the Main Campus at 1350 Houbolt Road in Joliet from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 30.
Cop on a Rooftop is a statewide event sponsored by more than 130 police departments in Illinois. During this event, JJC police officers will camp out on the roof of Dunkin Donuts. Those who make a donation will get a free donut.
Kids who attend can be a part of the “Touch a Truck,” event on that same day in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot. Vehicles will include squad cars, ATVs, a fire truck, and an ambulance.
The JJC police department raised a combined total of $4,532 for last year’s Special Olympics.
Just last month, the department raised $2,600 by hosting a spaghetti dinner for this year’s Special Olympics fundraiser.
Anyone who can’t attend can still support the Special Olympics by stopping by the police department on the Main Campus, located just south of the Fitness Center to purchase merchandise.
