Fundraisers Benefit Family of Romeoville Man Killed in Crash

Don Trasmonte, 41, died in a two-car crash May 19.

Community members are organizing fundraisers to benefit the wife and children left behind after the tragic death of a Romeoville man.

Don Trasmonte, 41, was killed May 19 when another vehicle struck his car as he made a left turn from Taylor onto Weber Road in Romeoville.

Trasmonte's wife, Cristy, who was also in the car at the time of the crash, remains hospitalized, according to a GoFundMe page set up in his honor.

The page was established to help the Romeoville man's family — including sons Brandon, 15, and Raphael, 7 — with expenses after his unexpected death.

Another fundraiser is slated for 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Fat Ricky's, 660 Independence Boulevard in Romeoville. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of proceeds for customers who present a fundraiser flier.

Copies of the flier will be available at the June 13 event.

Trasmonte was born in Dumaguete City, Philippines, and is survived by parents Nonoy and Linda Trasmonte; brothers, Lito (Mia Duterte) and Rico, along with his wife and children.

He worked at Heartland Pharmacy in Woodridge for more than 10 years.

"He is a music lover, a big time foodie, great family man and friend to many," Trasmonte's obituary said. "A great brother-in-law to Leslie (Chris Young) and Odette. A sweet man to his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was a loving and supportive husband to Cristy (Jaraula), and a great father to Brandon (15) and Raphael (7). He will live forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed.
