Fundraiser for Family of Murdered Romeoville Teen Set for March 2

Event set for March 2 at Stone City Saloon.

Organizers are planning a fundraiser for the family of slain Romeoville High School student Briana Valle. An event is scheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Stone City Saloon, 721 N. Independence Blvd. in Romeoville.

Briana and her mother were sitting in a car in their driveway in the 300 block of Emery Avenue at around 7 a.m. Feb. 13 when a suspect opened fire on them, police said. Shot twice in the head, the 15-year-old died several days later at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Her mother, 33-year-old Alicia Guerrero, is recovering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

There is no fee to attend the March 2 event, but organizers are asking individuals and businesses to donate raffle items to help raise money for the family.

Anything from gift baskets to gift cards to big-ticket items like TVs or laptops are welcome. To donate, contact organizer Petra Burgess at 815-372-9260

Stone City Saloon will also donate a percentage of food and drink proceeds back to the fundraiser, according to Burgess.

A meeting for anyone who wants to help out with the fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Ats-A-Nice Pizza, 334 N. Independence Blvd. in Romeoville. For more information on the fundraiser visit the Facebook event page.

Another Romeoville resident, Anna Little-Maloney, has set up a GoFundMe account to collect donations for Valle's family. Click here to donate via the GoFundMe page.

Visitation for Valle is scheduled for 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Russo's Hillside Chapels 4500 Roosevelt Road in Hillside, Illinois. Family and friends will gather at Hillside Chapels at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, for a funeral service, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 200 W. Romeo Rd. in Romeoville
