Worst Weather Over; Thunderstorm Watch in Effect

Storms caused power outages Tuesday night in Romeoville.

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of  66 mph in Romeoville as severe storms hit the area, causing power outages for some residents.

According to ComEd’s outage map, between 3,001 to 10,000 people in the Joliet region, which includes Romeoville, were without power Tuesday night.

A tornado warning expired at 9 p.m., but the National Weather Service's forecast is calling for continued thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m., with a chance of showers Wednesday and wind gusts of up to 25 mph.

A dispatcher for the Romeoville police and fire departments said responders were busy Tuesday night fielding calls of downed tree limbs, accidents and other weather-related emergencies.
