Valley View Schools Closed Due to Widespread Flooding

All campuses cancelled classes Thursday.

All classes are cancelled in Valley View School District Thursday due to widespread flooding, according to the district. All after-school activities are also cancelled.

While elementary and middle schools were cancelled before the school day began, Romeoville and Bolingbrook high school students were en route to their campues when the decision was made.

According to Director of Community Relations Larry Randa, buses were returning to the high schools around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to pick up the kids they had already dropped off and take them home.

As of 7 a.m., the National Weather Service in Romeoville was reporting 3.24 inches of rainfall. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8:15 a.m.
