Share Your Reaction: How Do You Feel About bin Laden’s Death?

Nearly 10 years after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the U.S., the president has confirmed the death of the terrorist leader.

More than an hour after the White House announced that President Barack Obama would make a late-night announcement related to national security, Obama confirmed the news that most Americans have waited nearly a decade to hear: Osama bin Laden has been killed.

In a live broadcast from the White House’s East Room, the president announced that the al-Qaida leader and the mastermind behind 9/11 was killed after a firefight in Pakistan.

According to the president’s prepared remarks, bin Laden’s death was the result of a ground operation launched based on U.S. intelligence. Obama said the operation was conducted with the cooperation of the Pakistani government.
