2. RHS says goodbye, honors graduating seniors

Graduating Romeoville High School seniors will be honored during the school’s annual awards ceremony from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the campus, 100 N. Independence Boulevard.

3. Don’t miss the sock hop!

A Friday night will benefit a fund to build the , a veterans home and American Legion post, in Romeoville. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple for the event, scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight May 20. Patch will be there to document the event, so stop and say hi — and pose for a photo!

4. Memorial Day commemoration

Village Hall will be closed for business Monday, May 30, but stop by at 10 a.m. for the village’s annual Memorial Day event and remember those who have given their lives in service to our country. This year’s event has been moved to , since construction starts Tuesday on .

5. Another way to honor veterans

The Hampton Park Social Athletic Club is looking for youth organizations and groups to help out on Saturday, May 28, as volunteers remember our fallen heroes by placing flags on the graves of veterans at Resurrection Cemetery on 135th Street. All volunteers are welcome to come out at 9:30 a.m. and help place the stars and stripes on the resting places of more than 800 area veterans. Flags will be provided.
