Is it Your Lucky Day? Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Romeoville

No one has claimed $200,000 prize.

If you bought a Powerball ticket last week in Romeoville, check your pockets — you could be $200,000 richer.

Someone bought a ticket with five matching numbers on Aug. 3 from Sun Shine Food Mart, 369 S. Budler Road, according to a press release issued Monday by the Illinois Lottery.

As of Monday, the winner had yet to come forward.

For selling the winning ticket, Sun Shine Food Mart will receive a 1 percent bonus of $2,000, according to the release.

The Romeoville store isn’t the only local shop to selling a winning ticket in recent weeks.

In July, Lemont Kar Gas, 1196 State St. in Lemont, . The prize has since been claimed by a Tinley Park resident.

In March, a rep for Little Lotto said it’s not unusual for winners to take a week or two to claim their jackpot.

“It depends,” spokesman Tracy Owens said. “Generally, we have people come in within the first couple of weeks.”

Those who hit the jackpot have exactly one year to claim their winnings. After 365 days, unclaimed prizes go back into the Illinois Common School fund to benefit local school districts.
