USF Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight on the Road

Chris Miller leads the way with 16 points as USF improves to 14-8.

WHITING, Ind. – Led by 16 points from sophomore Chris Miller and 12 from freshman Edvinas Presniakovas, University of St. Francis defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph 71-55 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon.

USF (14-8 overall, 10-6 CCAC) outshot the host Crimson Wave 47% to 25% in the first half en route to taking a 40-18 lead at the break. Miller and junior Andrew Lerg each tallied eight points in the first stanza.

The Saints outscored Calumet St. Joseph (6-15, 3-13) 13-4 to start the second period to take their largest lead of the contest, 53-22. USF maintained at least a 20-point advantage for all but the game’s final 39 seconds.

Miller hit six of eight attempts from the field and was perfect on three 3-point tries as he scored in double figures for the 21st time in 22 games this year. Presniakovas came off the bench to sink five of eight shots from the floor.

USF extended its road winning streak to five games and won for the third time in its last four games overall. The win also marked the 50th career victory for Saints’ third-year head coach John Baines (50-34).

Freshman Logan Timmons notched game highs with nine rebounds and five assists.

Javon Robinson (14 points), Franqlin Gatson (14) and Chris Diehl (12) combined for 40 of CCSJ’s 51 points.

USF continues its four-game road swing at Judson University Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
