You Made the Call: Good Shepherd Named Top Romeoville Preschool

Voters overwhelmingly picked the school as Romeoville's best place for early learning.

Our Readers' Choice topics have run the gamut — from places to watch a game to where to grab a great breakfast in Romeoville.

But was serious business. After all, what's more important to parents than their child's education? And when it comes to laying a foundation for future success, early education is crucial.

So we're sure voters in last week's Readers' Choice poll didn't make their choices lightly.

Here's what some of you had to say about Good Shepherd:

Julie J.: Good Shepherd Preschool is a wonderful faith and family oriented environment! Miss Marilyn and Miss Judith always greet the kids with a warm, welcoming smile.

Selena Roberts: It is a wonderful learning environment and the kids learn about faith as well. We are not members of the church, we are Catholic, but the lessons they learn are a good foundation for young Christians of any religion. This is a great place for kids to start learning to love learning!

Julie Louwerse: We are in love with Good Shepherd! When my (now) first grade son was four, we went there for a walk-through, to meet Ms. Marilyn and check the place out. I think it took all of a minute for me to be sold. They truly care for and know my children (I now have a four-year-old there and an almost-three year old who is dying to go!) and allow tons of hands-on learning/exploration. The faith-based lessons reinforce what we are trying to teach our sons at home. Also, it's just plain fun. :) It's an incredibly safe, nurturing, and affordable preschool experience that we highly recommend!

Lea Anne Stoughton: My daughter and son, now in 3rd and 1st grades, both attended Good Shepherd Preschool. They are both at the top of their class in reading and math, and their standardized test scores are above school and district averages. On top of all that, I love the faith element to the program. The kids learn that God loves them, the true meanings of Christmas and Easter, and many Bible stories and lessons. Though it's a ministry of a Lutheran church, the preschool isn't "Lutheran," but Christian, and it truly welcomes all.
