Safety Gear Company Moving to Romeoville

Magid Glove & Safety Manufacturing Co. will reportedly move to the village in August.

A manufacturer of work gloves and other protective gear is moving from its Chicago sites to Romeoville, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Magid Glove & Safety Manufacturing Co. recently purchased a more than 700,000-square-foot warehouse at 1300 Naperville Road for $12.6 million.

According to Crain's, the sale price was 72 percent more than Lincolnshire-based Investor Venture One Real Estate paid for the site less than a year ago. The firm paid just more than $7.3 million because seller Sharp Electronics was getting ready to leave the property.

Magid will reportedly have more than 400 employees at the new facility. The company's two Chicago warehouses are currently for sale.

Crain's reported that the company will move its headquarters to the Romeoville site this August before relocating its warehouse operation in October.
