Gas Guide: Prices Up 20 Cents Since Monday

Patch rounds up the best prices at area gas stations.

But while the cause of the spike isn’t clear, one thing is: Romeoville residents are paying more at the pump than they were just a few days ago. Here’s a roundup of the area’s lowest fuel prices as listed by GasBuddy.com.

Romeoville

The cheapest price in Romeoville was $4.19 Friday morning, seen at Mobil, 344 N. Independence; Shell, 1 Alexander Circle; Speedway, 701 Independence; and Citgo, 1100 N. Independence. The price was $4.29 per gallon at most other Romeoville stations.

Your best bet

If you’re in the area (and you’re a member), your best bet for gas under $4 was at Sam’s Club, 7430 Woodward in Woodridge, where a gallon of unleaded sold for $3.95 Friday morning.  

In Bolingbrook, the cheapest gas was $4.09 at Costco, 830 E. Boughton Road.

The average gas price in Chicago rose to $4.35, up 11 cents since Monday, compared with the Illinois average of $4.20 and the national average of $3.78, according to chicagogasprices.com.
