Gas Guide: June 29

Patch rounds up the best prices at area gas stations.

If you're planning to hit the road this Fourth of July, now's the time to fill up your tank, as gas prices continue to dip.

Romeoville

Gas was $3.69 per gallon at most Romeoville stations Wednesday morning, including Dominick's, 435 N. Weber; Speedway, 1300 Normantown Road; 7-Eleven, 679 N. Weber; and Shell, 1285 Lakeview Drive.

Plainfield

Gas was even cheaper in Plainfield Wednesday morning. A gallon of unleaded was $3.59 at the Thornton's and Phillips 66 stations at Route 59 and Renwick Road.

Joliet

If you're a member of Sam's Club, you can take advantage of the area's lowest price of $3.57 per gallon at the store at Larkin and McDonough.

The average gas price in Chicago was $3.93 Wednesday morning, while the Illinois average was $3.70. The national average is $3.55 per gallon, according to chicagogasprices.com.
