Chamber Recognizes Members at Annual Awards Ceremony

Honors given in five categories at Nov. 8 event.

The Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce held its first-ever Member Awards Luncheon Nov. 8 at Prairie Bluff Golf Club in Lockport.

"We have so many dedicated companies and individuals that I want to impress upon all that each nominee has been a tremendous asset to our chamber," Board Chair Bob Kalnicky said. Awards were distributed in the following areas: Corporate Citizenship, Small Business Leadership, Business Achievement, Non-Profit and Individual Leadership. 

was honored with the Corporate Citizenship Award, based on the company's involvement in the community, including the chamber and other local organizations. Other nominees included , , and .

“CITGO is has been a proud member of this chamber for many years," CITGO Government and Public Affairs Manager Pete Colarelli said, accepting the award on his company's behalf. "We are impressed with the leadership of RACC and their involvement in key community projects including their Partners in Education Program.”

The Small Business Achievement Award, given to of Romeoville, honored entrepreneurs and/or franchisees who have earned a reputation of excellence in the community. Other nominees were  and Nancy’s Pizza of Bolingbrook. The award was accepted by Culver's owner Ron Dalrymple, a member of the chamber board of directors and golf committee. The Romeoville restaurant has supported numerous agencies and events throughout the community.

The first Business Achievement award went to . The award is based on a variety of factors, including dramatic sales increases, regional and/or industry recognition. Nominees included At’s-A Nice Pizza, Midwest Generation and Nancy’s Pizza. Rasmussen College brought home the award for receiving a distinction few can claim — recognition by the Chicago Tribune was one of the Top 100 workplaces in Chicago.

The Individual Leadership Award was created to recognize a chamber volunteer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, providing leadership in key areas of the chamber. Nominees were Jim Masek from JM Autoworks, Jen Coyne from First Midwest Bank, Ron Dalrymple from Culver's of Romeoville, Christine Morgan of PNC Bank and winner Larry Randa from . The award was presented to Randa for his leadership in the formation of the chambers education committee, in addition to his previous service on the board of directors and the luncheon committee.

The Non-Profit Award, giving this year to the Kiwanis Club of Bolingbrook/Romeoville, honors the many worthy agencies that serve our community. Nominees also included DuCAP and Valley View School District.  Honoring the creation of five Builders Clubs in local school within the past year, the award went to Kiwanis of Bolingbrook/Romeoville and accepted by club president Michael Carpanzano of MB Financial Bank.

Additionally, recognition was given to many businesses honoring significant anniversaries for continuous membership in the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce.  Five year anniversaries included Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi, At’s-A-Nice Pizza, AT&T Illinois, Atlas Staffing, DuCAP, Enviroflo, First Midwest Bank, Kiwanis Club of Bolingbrook/Romeoville, Rotary Club of Romeoville and Will County Lodging Association.

Ten year anniversaries were recognized for Allied Waste, Canals and Trails Credit Union, Lockport Park District, Nicor Gas, PNC, Rosati’s Pizza, and Zale, Foster and Ruginis Dental Associates.

Celebrating 15 years of membership were , , Cutting Edge Catering, HighPoint Community, and Midwest Generation.

The 20 year recognition went to DuPage Township which was accepted by the DuPage Township Supervisor Bill Mayer.  The final recognition went to Vi Rank of VR Agency for 27 years of continuous membership to the Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce.  Romeoville Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Bridget Domberg stated, “We reached our goal of 200 members this past year.  While we celebrate that significant goal, we must also recognize those who have been involved with our chamber and our community throughout our history.”
