Business Spotlight: LydieSue

Just four short months ago, a Romeoville woman turned her talents and passion into a business, offering handmade quilts, hair bows and aprons.

This week, we caught up with Jill Delk of Romeoville to learn how her passion for crafting has become a growing family business called LydieSue.

Romeoville Patch: When did you get started, and how?

Jill Delk: We started the business this past May. We started small with items I had on hand that I had already made and offered a variety of items we could make quickly for customers.

Patch: Why did you decide to get into the business?

Delk: Initially, we launched the business as a means of making some additional needed income, and although it meets those needs, it is also a way for me to express my passion for my work.

Patch: What type of products do you make?

Delk: I make what I am good at, and am constantly testing out what people are most interested in. I make hats, aprons, baby quilts, hair bows and booties.

Everything I make is created out of fabric or yarn. Soon I plan to also sell my husband’s wood crafts and make LydieSue even more of a family business.

Patch: Where can shoppers purchase your products?

Delk: Any of my items can be ordered from my Etsy store at http://www.etsy.com/shop/LydieSue?ref=ss_profile. My store is called LydieSue, named after my daughter.

Patch: Do you offer custom products, and what is the process for such a request?

Delk: If I receive a customer request, I gladly make items to their specifications.
