Where’s Finn?

Two-year-old pooch has been on the run since March - and has recently been spotted in Romeoville.

Finn, a 2-year-old Brittany spaniel mix who in March, was reportedly spotted at I-55 and Weber Road at about 10 a.m. today (Monday, June 4).

Just a couple of days ago, witnesses reported seeing Finn between Normantown Road and Veterans Parkway, and perhaps taking refuge in a barn near the location

The brown and white dog’s former foster mom, Susan Hennis, is asking for the community’s continued support to help find him.

Hennis, coordinator with the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network, said Finn has been seen traveling through Romeoville, Shorewood, Joliet, Channahon and Minooka since he escaped March 31.

“Most of the sightings have been him doing 'normal' things...walking down the street, trotting through people's yards, and sleeping in gardens (twice),” Hennis said in a recent email. “We ask that people call or email with sightings or, if possible, allow him to go into a fenced yard where he can be trapped.”

Hennis stressed that anyone who spots Finn shouldn’t chase him, since that will only make the apprehensive dog run.

“As you can see, he is a traveler and we would like him to stay in the area where people are becoming aware of him,” she said. Several volunteer spotters are “on call” and able to go to the scene when there is a Finn sighting, she said.

Anyone who spots the dog is asked to contact Hennis at 309-838-4176 or help_finn@yahoo.com. A Facebook page has also been set up to track Finn’s progress.
