Plainfield's Melissa McCarthy to Host Pre-Super Bowl SNL

Tune in or set your DVR for the Feb. 1 episode.

Plainfield native Melissa McCarthy will host "Saturday Night Live" for the third time Super Bowl weekend, according to Variety.

While there's no word on the musical guest for the episode, Variety reports that McCarthy will return to the show Feb. 1.

It's been a big year for the St. Francis Academy (now Joliet Catholic) graduate, who starred in the summer hit "The Heat" alongside Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. The movie raked in $40 million in its opening weekend. McCarthy also starred in "Identity Thief" with Jason Bateman.

Next up for McCarthy is "Tammy," co-starring Susan Sarandon. The movie, slated for a July 2014 release, is the story of a woman "who hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother."

McCarthy's sitcom, "Mike & Molly," is in its fourth season on CBS and airs Mondays at 8 p.m. Central.
