Lewis University's Adam Smith Week brings economic quiz bowl and debate

As part of Adam Smith Week, an annual event commemorating the “Father of Economics,” Lewis University will host an Economics Quiz Bowl on March 8 and The Great Debate on March 9. Free of charge and open to the public, both events will be held on their respective days at 7 p.m. in the Student Union located on Lewis University’s main campus in Romeoville.

During the Economics Quiz Bowl, several historical figures including Leonardo Da Vinci, Socrates and Martin Luther King will possess handouts highlighting their importance to world history and economics. Within 30 minutes, each team will have to seek out these people and obtain their handouts. To prepare for the quiz bowl, teams are encouraged to study the handouts.

Lewis University faculty members portraying economists Adam Smith, John Maynard Keynes and Karl Marx will debate the relative merits of free market economies versus more socialist economies during The Great Debate.
