JJC Guitar and Percussion Ensemble Winter Concert Dec. 14

 
The Joliet Junior College Guitar and Percussion Ensembles will present their Winter Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the JJC Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. 
 
The concert will open with the Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of JJC instructor Steve Jacobson. The Guitar Ensemble will feature Darrell "Tony" Maas of Bolingbrook; William Brown of Channahon; Andy Brown of Frankfort; Matthew Cortez of Homer Glen; Christopher Mendez and Darryl Roberson of Joliet; James Osborne of Morris; Jacquelyn Huntley and Dean Martinez of New Lenox; Nicholas Kinman and Tami Rounsaville of Plainfield; Nicolas Velcich of Romeoville; and Alex Theimer of Shorewood. Selections will include compositions by Bensa, Bizet, Dowland, Lévesque, and others.
The Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of JJC instructor Adam Cowger, will perform the music of Lynn Glassock, Josh Gottry, Chick Corea, and Andre Abujamra.
 
The program will also feature traditional Swedish and Afro-Cuban music. World percussion virtuoso Michael Mixtacki will be a featured guest artist. The ensemble will feature William Brown of Channahon, Michael Amos and Elisa Robinson of Joliet, Dean Hobbs of Manhattan, Nathan Doyle and Jason Schmidt of New Lenox, and Nick Hart of Pontiac.
 
Admission is $5 for general public; $4 for senior citizens, non-JJC students, JJC faculty and staff; and $2 for JJC students and children.
