Grimm's Grimmest at Romeoville Branch Library

What really happened after Sleeping Beauty is awakened by the Prince’s kiss? They do not live happily ever after! Be prepared for a "chilling" dramatic performance of these striking tales, some set to music, as they were first intended for adults. Bruno Bettleheim in The Uses of Enchantment and Jane Yolen in Touch Magic, have discussed the power of fright in children as a necessary and useful survival tool. Listening to how narrow escapes and horrible demises in ghost stories and gothic tales strengthen human survival instincts, thus justifying the enjoyment we have always shared in hearing a good scary story! This program will meet in the Storytime Room and is open to all patrons 13 and older. Please call, email, or stop by the Reference Desk, Romeoville Branch Library, to register. (In the spirit of  "A Midsummer Knight's Read" themed summer reading program.)
