Video: Tree Lighting Ushers in Holiday Season in Romeoville

On a frigid Friday evening, families came out to watch the annual tree-lighting ceremony and enjoy the village's annual "Winter Wonderland" event.

residents braved the cold on Friday, heading out to the Romeoville Recreation Center for the village’s annual tree-lighting ceremony.

With some help from Santa Claus himself, Mayor John Noak ushered in the holiday season by lighting the village’s 30-foot spruce tree.

Inside the rec center, for the admission “fee” of one non-perishable food item per person, guests enjoyed holiday crafts, games, kids entertainment and more at the annual event. Proceeds went to the annual Hope for the Holidays food drive, which will help feed families in need this Christmas.
