A Romeoville man taking some cuts in a Bolingbrook batting cage bashed himself in the mouth when his bat hit the back wall and ricochetted into his face, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Bret Gerhard, 48, had gone "to hit some balls" in a Wilderness Falls batting cage when he clubbed himself in the face, according to the lawsuit.

Gerhard not only suffered "great pain and anguish" in the August accident, but also "expended and became liable for, and will expend and become liable for, large sums of money for medical care and dental care and services endeavoring to become healed and cured of said injuries," according to the suit.

Gerhard was "caused to be injured while swinging a baseball bat over a home plate that was placed in close proximity to the back wall of the batting cage which during the swing resulted in the baseball bat striking the batting cage wall , ricochetting, and striking (him) in the mouth," the lawsuit said.

Besides batting cages, Wilderness Falls also offers miniature golf, according to its website.
