Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Will County

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a severe thunderstorm for Will County.

The warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Thursday (May 30).

The National Weather Service said at 2:52 p.m. severe thunderstorm was located near Pontiac and moving north at 40 mph. There is a threat of winds gusting to as high as 70 mph.

Radar indicated at 61-mph gust and tree damage was reported with this storm in Pontiac. The NWS said to expect considerable tree damage, damage to mobile homes and roofs and outbuildings.The severe thunderstorm will be near Odell around 3:05 p.m., Dwight around 3:20 p.m., Mazon around 3:30 p.m., Coal City around 3:40 p.m., Morris around 3:45 p.m. and Minooka-Channahon around 3:55 p.m.

Other locations in the warning include Kinsman, Verona and Carbon Hill. Other locations affected: Channahon State Park, Gebhard Woods State Park.
