Severe Storm Watch Issued for Romeoville

Severe weather could be headed our way.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Will County until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the Joliet Weather Center:

"Severe storms are firing in the Bloomington-Normal area and our area is on the northern fringe of this current watch. These storms appear to be staying south of the area. However a new severe storm watch may be issued for the remainder of northern Illinois (the Storm Prediction Center is monitoring the area for a possible watch) It is very difficult to say when storms will move in, but please be prepared at any time the remainder of today and tonight."

A flash flood watch is also in place for northern Illinois, including Will County, until Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms may produce damaging winds, potentially in excess of 70 mph, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, hail the size of quarters and heavy rain.
