Quick Burst of Snow Expected to Hit in Will County

The National Weather Service says up to 2 inches are possible as snow moves through the area Monday afternoon and early Monday night.

In a special statement, The National Weather Service said a quick burst of snow is likely Monday afternoon and early Monday evening for parts of northern Illinois, including Will County.

Conditions are favorable for a short period of moderate to briefly heavy snowfall along and north of a line from Rockford to Aurora to Valparaiso (Ind.) this afternoon and early evening, the NWS said.

The NWS said a fast-moving disturbance will move southeast across the area bringing snow to the Chicago metro area in the late-afternoon hours and then to northwest Indiana by early evening.

The most intense snow may only last 2-3 hours but amounts of up to 2 inches are possible, particularly north of the Rockford to Aurora to Valparaiso line.
