Bolingbrook 'Dreamer' Appears on Steve Harvey Show

Niani Scott visited the show after being chosen for the Disney Dreamers Academy.

A Bolingbrook teenager and aspiring journalist appeared last week on the "Steve Harvey Show."

Niani Scott, 15, was one of just 100 teens chosen from among thousands of applicants to participate in last month's Disney Dreamers Academy at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orland, Florida.

Comedian and TV host Harvey has partnered with Disney for the last seven years to host the academy.

Scott, a sophomore at Chicago Hope Academy, was also one of four students chosen to receive the Steve Harvey scholarship, and was the only Dreamer to be interviewed live on the Steve Harvey Morning Show.

On April 2, Scott and three other "Dreamers" appeared on an episode of Harvey's TV talk show.

"I grew up in the Chicago area, seeing things that most kids don't see, and although it caused me to grow up quickly, it made me realize that I want to help other people with their struggles," Scott told Harvey. She said she applied to the academy to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist.
