Meet Apache, a laid-back 8-month-old pit bull mix looking for his forever family and a place to call home.

Apache is a handsome young boy with gentle green eyes who is very sweet and well behaved; overall he is very quiet and is not a barker. This patient pup waits for his food and doesn't growl when you are near his food and is also not possessive with his toys.

He knows his "sit" and "down" commands but at 8 months is still a puppy and would benefit from additional training. He is crate trained and housebroken and is content when put in his crate with a couple chew toys that occupy him. This good boy does very well on a leash on his walks and loves his walks. He is not reactive whatsoever to other dogs on walks, and in social situations is excited (not overly excited) to make their acquaintance. Cats ... no problem — he does not seem to know they exist and pretty much ignores them when he sees them.

Apache has not been around children but with his wonderful temperament he is expected to do well with kids, but he will grow to be big and strong which needs to be considered when allowing children to handle him.

Belly rubs — one of his favorite things ... his forever family must set aside time for this important task. He will be happy in a home with an active family that can give him the stimulation he needs — play catch in the yard, and lots of walks or jogs. Apache will make a perfect family pet and loving companion for one lucky family.

Apache’s adoption fee is $250 which includes his neuter, vaccines, fecal and heartworm tests and microchipping. Contact the Romeoville Humane Society by email at romeovillehumanesociety@yahoo.com or phone (877) 813-7300 for more information on Apache or to set an appointment to meet him.
