Silver Cross rewards mothers in May with Discounted Mammograms/Savings at Local Businesses

Moms are busy women.  They take care of their family, home and community.  Because they matter in the lives of so many, Silver Cross Hospital rewards these special women for taking care of themselves—not just on Mother’s Day, but every day.  Women who join the free IMatter program receive valuable discounts at over 120 local businesses just for getting a mammogram at the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health.  To sign-up or for more information about the program, visit www.IMatter.silvercross.org.

In recognition of Mother’s Day, the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health is also offering digital screening mammograms for just $100 for those who prefer to pay at time of appointment; insurance will not be billed.   Women can take advantage of the discounted price by requesting an appointment at www.IMatter.silvercross.org or calling (815) 300-7076 during the month of May to schedule an appointment before June 30, 2014.  A doctor’s order is required for the mammogram. Don’t have a doctor?  Call 1-888-660-HEAL or visit www.IMatter.silvercross.org for a free referral.

Advanced Diagnostics, Special Care

The Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health represents a unique concept in women’s healthcare. Located on the new Silver Cross Hospital campus at I-355 and Route 6 in New Lenox, the Center was the first in the region to provide an advanced level of diagnostics coupled with specialized care for women in one convenient location. Set in a spa-like environment, the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health offers a variety of healthcare services designed around a woman’s needs and lifestyle including mammography, breast ultrasound including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, bone densitometry, and a breast cancer support group.

“At the Center, we use only digital mammography technology to provide our patients with the best service and care,” says Marci Vasiliades, Manager of the Silver Cross Center for Women’s Health. “Patients can bring their old films in and we will scan and transfer them to the digital format for easy comparison.”

Digital mammograms also simplify the procedure for women. Although compression of the breasts is still important when performing digital mammography, the compression paddles are warmer and more flexible, which ultimately provide women with a more comfortable experience.  Following the screening, women can call a 24-hour mammogram hotline to obtain their test results alleviating any anxiety.

“Our patients really enjoy the service and the amenities,” said Vasiliades.  “They consistently rank us in the top 2% in the nation for patient satisfaction according to Press Ganey.

Silver Cross is designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).  The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

In addition to having this special accreditation, the Center is also unique in that there is a Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN™).  This specialized nurse guides patients through the next steps in their care.
