Senior Star at Weber Place Hosts Kick-Off Event for the Walk to End Alzheimer's® Joliet

Public Invited to Raise Funds and Awareness for Alzheimer’s

 

ROMEOVILLE, IL (April 24, 2014) – Senior Star at Weber Place is pleased to host a kick-off event in support of the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® Joliet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 at 605 South Edward Drive in Romeoville.

The event will include a Cinco de Mayo themed taco party with an informative discussion led by Mickey Peterson, manager of special events for the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, about the upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s® Joliet scheduled for September 27 at Rock Run Forest Preserve.  The Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.  Held annually in more than 650 communities nationwide, this event calls for participants of all ages and abilities to help reclaim the future for millions.

All funds raised from this kick-off event will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter.  As a 2014 Walk challenge, with donations of $250,000 collectively received through all of its retirement communities, Senior Star will provide matching support to the Alzheimer’s Association.  “We are thrilled to host and be a part of the kick-off event for the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter Walk to End Alzheimer’s® Joliet so that together we can raise funds and awareness to fight this horrible disease,” said Michelle Franzak, executive director of Senior Star at Weber Place.  “Our team at Weber Place is looking forward to participating in the Walk to honor all of our past and present residents, families and friends that have been affected by Alzheimer’s.”

 

Attendees will be served a build-your-own taco bar and refreshments.  The event is free of charge for residents and a donation of $15 is requested from family, friends and the general public of which $10 will go toward the Walk.  Please RSVP by calling 815.439.9955 by May 2.
