The Romeoville Police Department is a municipal department serving the village's 38,000 residents. Its staff, including 63 sworn officers, relocated to the new Romeoville Municipal Center in June of 2010. In September of that year, Mark Turvey, former deputy chief, was named the department's new interim police chief. Its services include Gun Lock Giveaway, a child safety program that issues free gun locks to qualifying individuals, and a resident medical program that includes a medical database maintained by Romeoville 9-1-1 dispatchers to ensure emergency responders are aware of residents' unique medical conditions.
