After suffering two straight losses to finish the regular season, Joliet Catholic Academy’s football team looks forward to collectively turning the page and starting anew in the postseason.
The Hilltoppers (5-4) play at Elmwood Park (7-2) at 6 pm. Saturday in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs. And they’ll look to play with an anything-is-possible mindset that they’ve gleaned from being battled-tested by the likes of Marist, Benet Academy and Providence Catholic.
JCA has on its side one the state’s most electrifying runners—senior Ty Isaac. The USC recruit can be a difference-maker if he is healthy. He has struggled to shrug off shoulder and groin injuries up to now.
If he’s good to go, then JCA could be good to go—all the way back to Memorial Stadium in Champaign, site of the IHSA football state finals Nov. 23-24. The Hilltoppers placed second in Class 5A in 2011.
