Romney A Role Model? No Way! Mom Talk
Mitt Romney's foot-in-mouth disease causes him to lose respect.
As parents, we are challenged to be role models for our children. If that weren't tough enough, we must also help guide our kids to selecting others as role models.
For example, we teach kids to respect people in positions of authority: teachers, principals, police officers, mayors, senators, and presidents. Yes, presidents. It's hard to believe this time of year that our leaders vying for the highest public office act the way they do.
With that in mind, Mitt Romney made a statement recently that is causing me to break my own rule of not writing about politics. If he were to win the election, I could not imagine how I could point to him and say to my children, "There is a man we must honor and respect."
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney said at a $50k-a-person fundraiser. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it."
Here's the real kicker:
“My job is not to worry about those people," Romney said. "I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
That kind of obnoxious comment shows total disdain for the very people he may be sworn to represent. He says point blank that it is not his job to worry about the people who vote for President Obama "no matter what."
Any civics teacher would tell you that is absolutely false. Our elected officials must and should represent everyone within their jurisdiction. Its a shame that Romney does not feel that way. It is a shame that he is a candidate for the highest office in the land and he does not feel that way.
Regardless of what our individual political views are, we still have a duty to teach our children to respect authority. Lord knows we haven't always had stellar characters in the White House. Electing presidents who lack moral fiber is a practice we, Americans, should stop.
Governor Romney, with all due respect, as a voter taking personal responsibility for my life, it is easy for me to say that you simply are not good enough to be a role model for my children.

Obama not telling Judge if the Indefinate detention is being illegally used until the courts decide if it is constitutional or not and Romney saying 47% of Americans do not matter to him at some rich guys fundraiser for him neither Romney nor Obama are roll models....John Quincy Adams,Thomas Jefferson,George Washington,Benjamin Franklin even though he was a drunk would make better roll models that any person alive today.or could ever be alive.....Besides Ron Paul speaking of the fundamental reasons and knowledge of what this country is supposed to be and it's founding principals.

Truthfully folks you should stop reacting to campaign diversions and spend your time worrying about national and world affairs. Our President may be a terrific showman but as a leader of the free world he lacks. BHO’s legacy may not be that he was our country’s first minority President but that his visions orchestrated our country’s moved toward socialism and the demise of close alliances in the Middle-East and beyond. Please everyone, focus on making this country viable again.

Romney is trying to teach self respect. Take responsibility for yourself, stop accepting handouts. We have generations on welfare, in fact, a record number of people on welfare. He simply believes that if you want to help yourself and get off of welfare, the government will help you. But, if you want the American Dream without doing any work, then you are out of luck. I agree with Romney, and he is a role model for stating this.

But the thing is, the majority of that 47% are NOT on welfare...they can be seniors living on social security, disabled vets, WORKING people below a certain income threshold. As a matter of fact when NBC "fact checked" the 47% comment, they said that 60% (of the 47%) HAVE JOBS. Nearly half the rest are retired - they HAD jobs. These people do (or have) paid other types of taxes - such as payroll & SS tax. To just "throw away" this whole group and label them as irresponsible is, well, irresponsible!!

Listen up, Lori. I am a senior citizen who gets social security. My city pension is not taxed by my city. My mother who at 96 is destitute and pays no tax but does receive Medicaid so that she can receive nursing home care is not a freeloader. She took care of herself and her children while her husband was off fighting WW II. We are both grateful for Medicare. I hope you are never out of work and in need of help feeding your family. It could happen.
Romney was not referring only to people on welfare who are often in need temporarily while they get on their feet. Did you know that the Senator of MA , Scott Brown was a needy child who received government assistance? Mitt isn't teaching anything. He knows alot about avoiding taxes. ( He found a loophole to save the tax on a $77.000 vet bill for their horses.) But he does write a check for the Mormon church - he tithes! He avoided the draft 4 times with his money and none of his sons has been in the military. And they have not been taught by their parents that when much is given much is expected. One son recently gave a bellhop a $2 tip for taking care of enormous luggage. What do they know about people who rely on tips?

Right on Lori - if you listen to the polsters they are saying this evryday. A certain percentage has made up its mind X% are going to vite for Obama, X% are going to vote for Romney. It is the balnce that have to be swayed to win.
It is easy to critizise each candidate. Obama in his book says that push come to shove he would come down on the side of the Muslims. I am not sure what he meant but I do not think we should blow it out of proportion.
Obama says we have to tax the rich! What he does not say is that tax income is approximately 0.7% of the yearly deficit and approx .2% of the total budget. So like ALL politicians he is trying to miss lead people into thinking that taxing the rich is somehow going to solve our problems.
What both partioes and candidates need to say is that we all need to sacrifice or we are going to become a debtor nation and then we will follow the path of Greece.
Medicare is going broke. Obama's does not say that. His way to fix it was to take $500 bil out of Medicare and put it into Obamacare. He says he will eliminate\reduce fraud. But when has our government ever reduce fraud? Obama said he would go through the Budget line by line. That promise lasted until the end of his first campaign.
In Romney we have a business man who has experience fixing problems - Utah Olympics.

If this is your big worry heaven help us! I think you missed the boat on what Mr. Romney was saying, the Democratic base of 47% will never vote for him and he is focusing on the independent voters to win this election. With the economy stagnant, jobless rate above 8% (actually in the upper teens) and a deficit approaching SIXTEEN Trillion with an annual deficit of ONE Trillion (spending 1 Trillion more than we take in annually), all of our futures are looking rather bleak. We are not looking for a role model but someone who can move this country in the other direction.

There is nothing wrong with what Romney said, although 47% might be alittle high.Obama could do a horrible job,but there's that percentage that will still vote for him no matter what he does or doesn't do.Obama's a talker, not a doer.He wants you to sit there, take money from the government and let the government run your life.He degrades anyone out there who is making good money because of their hard work.Qbama figures these people need to give alot of their money back to the government,so they can give it to the people who don't want to work. The government needs to step aside and let people make decisions for themselves!

Timmy, it's simple. Barry has no clue how business works. He only understands reparative eonomics. He has no clue how wealth is created, only that it can be taxed and distributed to those he deems more worthy.
Solyndra took over $500,000,000 in loans from the taxpayers at Barry's insistence and then closed shop.
Did CNNCBSNBCABCMSNBC/DNC tell you that inexperienced college professors make worthy presidential candidates? Oh wait. They did. Got it from the DNC fax.

Do the Republicans have any other tricks up their sleeve?

Of course, Timmy does not understand the hot dog stand reference.
For those, like Timmy, who simply don't get it, it is a reference to the blank page resume that Obama brought to the 2008 campaign. To distract from the relative lack of credentials (Hillary was better qualified, but Barry's foreign policy mess has all but shot down her chances in 2016), Barry chose a set of phrases so simple that the MSM ran with it.
The simple fact is, Obama looks at his goals and intentions, rather than the actual effect of his policies. Why? He simply does not understand what it takes to run a business in this environment. He does understand class envy and raparative economics, but has little understanding how the revenue gets generated in the first place. To Obama, business is simply a source of tax revenue, nothing more.

It is so funny how many people listen to 5 minutes of the liberal press including the patch(read) and make up their minds on who a great guy is and a bad guy is. This country is about to become like Grease. Obama wants America to be like his father wanted it, on the same level as the rest of the world. We will be a third world country. Romney's comments are true. 47% will vote for Obama, just like they did for all the other candidates who have run for president. Look at the numbers over the last 50 years. All the polls show the numbers as a 52%-47% with 1% undecided,etc...
I teach my children that the world does not owe them a living and that they must work hard in school and in the work place to get ahead. Obama discourages that, he is a socialist. This country is getting worse by the day with the most people on food stamps in the history of America and unemployment at an all time high. Our National deficit is 16 trillion and climbing. Go blame Bush if you want but it is not true, it is what the press wants you to think.. So when people go to the polls in Nov they will think They are both bad but Obama is the better guy, not true. Ask his brother George, who lives in a shack in Kenya and can't get help from his own brother. Romney has helped countless people he doesn't even know. You will never hear about it from the liberal left wing press. Try educating yourself before you write Erin,

Tim, you are going off the deep end. It is that kind of talk that drives this country into a more divided country. Remember what Obama said, we should be civil in our discussions. But of course for him that lasted about one week. It is important to talk about differences but not try to belittle or besmirch the other guy for stating his position.
The Democrats like to say that "bushes wars" were off budget. BUT, all wars are off budget - WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vetnam War. But Bush was on the way to paying down the deficit until the bubble burst. Both sides are quilty in making the housing bubble. The Democrats forced the banks to make loans to those who did not have good credit. Fanny Mae\Freddie Mac purchased those loans (a govenment backed entity). That was the first problem. The second problem was when the banks or other financial institutions found a way to divide up these mortgages and sell them to the public. SO BOTH PARTIES HAD AN EQUAL PART IN CAUSING THE BUBBLE. When Bush tried to reign in Fanny Mae\Fredie Mac the Democrats said NO, they are doing a good job (incl Senator Obama). Those orginizations are still indebt to tune of appro $300 bil. So lets talk sensibly and figure out how we are going to save Medicare for our selves and our children. When we pay into Medicare we are paying only 40% of the costs. No wonder it is going broke.

Another thought. As I've asked before, and I'm truly puzzled by this; Is Mitt Romney really the best guy that the Republican Party could come up with? Olddeegee, the republican party knew from the start they couldn't beat Obama this year so they put someone in there that had nothing to lose and they knew couldn't win. In four years they will be back again (just look at the war chest they have been building this year) and then they will try to put someone serious up for election. The problem is by then they will have lost so much of the country based on their current platform, they will have to make major changes during the next four years or they will become irrelevant.

You forgot that Obama is the one who is conducting a class warfare. He talks about taxing the rich. The increased taxes he is talking about (see Oabma's Budget on line at Whitehouse.gov.) amounts to $71 bil dollars. That is 0.7% of the annual deficit or 0.25% of the total Budget. That is like a saying a family of $40,000 with a expenses of $60,000 will solve its financial problems with an additional income of $210.00. The problem is that BOTH parties have continued to pass legislation without the income to pay the costs.

What Romney said is true. That 47% will not vote from him and he needs to forget about them - he was talking about votes (it's good strategy - concentrate on votes you can get). On the other hand you would rather have your children's role model be someone who believes in redistribution on your wealth? “The trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some [wealth] redistribution -- because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot.” - Obama (this is not capitalism - it's socialism). Also the republican party is far from perfect, but at least God was included in their platform from the beginning (Democrats originally didn't have God in their platform at all and had to take three votes to put him back in the platform) and the republicans don't believe in the HHS mandate (taxpayer funded abortion). I believe my values and the ones I want my children to have are based more off the republican party then the democratic party. Do I agree with everything the republicans do? No absolutely not, but their values are much closer to what I want my children's role model to be. You work hard and you give back your money and your time and you honor life. Research both men and their history. Look at the vast differences in their past and present and then tell me who is more qualified to lead this country both financially and morally.

There should be tougher qualifications and LIMITS to how long and who can get this help. They should have to work for it, and given a time to get off of the help. Obama/Romney - Romney/Obama. It don't matter. Neither one has a single clue on the problem or how to fix it. If they do, they sure are not sharing it with us.
The problems in this country are never going to get fixed until whoever is in the White House and the other 500+ congress-people down the street actually start acting like adults and not children. When they can actually put the American people first and start working for us instead of trolling for votes, maybe we can resolve these issues and start moving forward.

Erin, go back to not writing anything about politics. It's obvious that you don't comprehend that statement and as so many are taking it out of context. When it comes to campaigning Romney is right, 47% of the people are going to vote for Obama no matter what. And most of the 47% will vote for a democrat no matter what. When my daughter 4 years ago told me that she was voting for Obama I asked her why, her answer "Because he is black and against abortion". She said that she was going to vote for him to prove she wasn't a racist and as far as the abortion statement, because she wouldn't think of getting an abortion yet if others want to get one she said let them.
Obama is a good talker, a good butt kisser, yet if you listen to him you leave scratching your head....A Bill Clinton he is not.
Romney's is going after the 53% that will get him elected, I truely doubt that either political party could pass a law that will effect only their party. Yes he is not worried about the 47% that will vote for Obama, he also is not worried about the 47% that will vote for him. In a fundraising spot you are worried about the 6% that will tilt the vote in your favor.

Romney is a rich republican and Obama is a rich democrat... and that is the only difference between them. The problem with our government has been and is that it is totally controlled by the richest people in the country. For the people, of the people and by the people has become for the rich, of the rich and by the rich. Don't believe it? Try running for a paltry office like Chicago alderman. It used to be that all you had to be was a neighborhood guy with a few good ideas, now you need a minimum of 1-2 million dollars to run and you better be connected to someone already in the system.
We need to wake up and realize that none of these guys gives a damn about we the people. Their days are filled with high powered lunches with the likes of Trump and 40.000 a plate dinners. If Mr. Obama was true to his word that he and people like him, meaning millionaires, don't need tax breaks then whenever he leaves office maybe he should decline the hefty pension he will receive for life for his 4-8 years of service. Four to eight years gets him a lifetime pension and 24 hour security, while 30 years on the job nowadays gets the rest of us a kick in the ass and an escort to the nearest exit.
Erin is right, Romney is not a role model but neither is Obama, Kirk, Durbin, Quinn or any other politician.
What do you call someone who does not have to worry about money, gas, food, education for your kids, retirement or healthcare? A public servant! Go figure.

What Romney stated is not pollitically correct but I do believe is directionally correct. As a nation and a state we have really lost our way when it comes to reality. As the most generous nation in the world we have continued to give away billions of dollars to help support people here and abroad. In doing this we have developed an entire sector that has become dependent on the handouts. The real tradegy in the current model is, not only have we developed a dependent class of , individuals. The ones that really deserve and need assistance are not getting enough help as the money is wasted on those that are not deserving. The welfare system as we now refer to it was to be a safety net not a carreer opportunity for conyinuing geenerations. A simple case is to look at our Nationa Park System and more specifically Yellowstone Park. Up until the early 60's feeding the animals was considered acceptable until the officials realized the animals had become completley dependent on the tourists handouts for their existance, the health and well being of the animals was not good. When the handouts were stopped the animals over the years have become healthier and self reliant. Give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a life time.

Totally agree. Assistance is needed for people living in poverty, however the issue is how that assistance is provided. FDR's WPA helped millions of people during the depression, but people had to WORK for what they got. It was the forerunner of today's welfare programs, which unfortunately does not require people to work. This is bad policy and created generations of people on welfare.

Yes, the IRS sent my Tax Return back!
I guess it was because of my response to the line, which read: "List All Dependents"
... So, I replied:
12 million illegal immigrants
3 million crack heads
42 million unemployable people on food stamps
2 million people in over 243 prisons and
535 fools in the U.S. House and Senate.
Apparently, this was NOT acceptable..

After Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and 2 wars initiated by Bush, of course we are on track to $16 trillion in debt. Obama was left a mess and is still fixing it. If you think Romney is going to care about the poor, female, elderly, Black or Latino voters, think again - he couldn't have stated it any plainer. The "47%" Romney referred to are not swindlers - they didn't pay FEDERAL income tax because they didn't qualify - they were either retired or poor. Check your facts (FactCheck or PolitiFact). A society should be judged by how it cares for its poor, sick and elderly, so I agree with this columnist. Shame on those in the comments section who are dissing them.

There are many more stories of goodness about Mitt Romney we do not know about.
Look at some of the associations of our current president. Bill Ayers, “The Unrepentant Terrorist”, Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s “Spiritual Mentor”, Van Jones. Obama's Green Czar and underground terrorist and communist....
Media can spin anything, but look at what the individual accomplished on his personal life. There are many role models around us.... Politics is tough to find many role models.

I am not disputing the story about Mittens and milk, I am disputing the source it came from that you have to admit is a complete clown and snake oil salesman. The fact that you and Judy listen to someone who is a complete laughingstock and whom Fox News kicked to the curb shows where you get your fair and balanced news from.
You are so desperate to find some reason to support Romney that you think the fact that he donated milk justifies him to be POTUS is hysterical. There are many, many people who do great deeds during their life, that does not make them qualified to be President. One good deed does not make up for all the skeletons, both known and unknown in Romney's closet. Romney is a gaffe machine. He is bought and paid for by his billion dollar donors. He has put people out of work so that he personally can profit from it, hidden money in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes, and the list goes on and on.

Political party aside, this man is an arrogant @ss who has absolutely NO PLACE running our country. This is not a Country Club - actual WORK has to be done. I will admit that the welfare system needs reform, but so does every other system the government controls.
Gov. Romney is clearly a bigot, a misogynist, religious fanatic (where is the separation of church and state, people?), he acts as if he is superior to the other 53% of us NOT in his corner, his policies are unconstitutional, he is COMPLETELY out of touch with how you and I live day to day to put food on our tables and meet our monetary obligations (do you really think he knows what a mortgage is?). He IS big business. His ideals do not mesh with those of the common person (aka the remaining 53%). NOT a role model. He would step on each and every one of us to personally benefit. THAT is not what I want to teach my son. I prefer to teach my son to respect others, help others, and not to judge others. You don't know until you walk in someone else's shoes. THIS MAN HAS NOT WALKED IN MY SHOES.
Obama is not perfect. But ask yourself this: Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago? I know I sure as heck am. My husband (unemployed 4 years ago) was able to start up a business that is thriving, and not due to any help from the government. ON HIS OWN.

@train17 - You kind of are talking out of both sides of your mouth. Gas HAS doubled. You can thank the OIL COMPANIES for that. Every quarter they seem to boast "record profits." Last time I checked the oil companies are PRIVATELY owned - not government owned. And 2006 is irrelevant. Employment in 2006 wasn't what Obama inherited. In January 2009 he inherited the highest unemployment rate in 14 years. See this link:
http://www.epi.org/publication/webfeatures_econindicators_jobspict_20081107/
My house depreciated that much as well. Again, that has nothing to do with Obama. That is the banks' fault. They overstretch EVERYONE. I'm under water too. Join the club.
Why hasn't Obama gotten anything accomplished that he promised? Simple Answer: John Boehner and his Republican House. The current House stops everything they can.
I am sorry you lost your job. I am sorry for everyone who loses their job. It is tough. It sucks. Been there. Done that.
Look at where we were in November 2008. Look at where we are now. We are slowly climbing back up. We need to see the forest thru the trees.

Julie J you nailed it on the head. Romney is a joke! He's controlled by the Koch brothers and Baine boys. He's one flip short of a happy meal. He'll sell this country to the highest bidder, China perhaps. He wants to be POTUS yet he won't pay his fair share of taxes, tax dogger. Show those tax returns big man and show what kind of a person you really are. What's he's afraid of?
Clinton left and we were in the black, 8 yrs later Bush leaves and we're in the hole!
Train17 I lost my job because of Romney and now I work 3 and still not making what I did with my one. I surely wasn't part of the middle class that Romney refers to ($200,000.-$250.000) but I paid my taxes and left my money here in this country!!! Good Luck finding work, keep the faith!

"Blame the Republicants, birthers, tea party nutjobs and Fox News lemmings for the divisiveness seen in the Country."
The above shows just how effective the coordinated campaign between the 'unbiased and intelligent' media and the DNC-Obama white house has been.
According to loony, programmed lemming liberals like Tim, Obama has no responsibility at all. This Cook County Chicago machine politician who rammed through his big government massive regulation and taxation agenda for two years with filibuster-proof control of both houses of congress has nothing to do with the repudiation his party suffered in 2010. Nothing at all people.
His policies of print money and spend created the TEA Party, whose sole mission is getting government spending under control.

Erin, you should not have broken your rule and written about politics. The mistake you made is that you did not do your homework and listen/watch the full video because if you had, I believe you would have been intelligent enough and honest enough to realize that your analysis has little to do with Gov. Romney's answer to the question posed on the video. If you did watch the video in in its entirety, then my aforementioned beliefs about you are woefully misplaced. The irony of your diatribe is that you claim to possess the value of "personal responsibility" which presumably makes you a good role model for your children, and this value of personal responsibility is exactly what Gov. Romney represents and promotes as a candidate, yet you want to dismiss him in my opinion either out of ignorance of what he said or out of an inexplicable form of nihilism that seems to have stricken a portion of our society that claims "personal responsibility" as a fundamental principle for living their lives. In short, you have attacked the candidate that shares your values and is honest enough to state that there will be members of the electorate that won't vote for him because they don't share those values. Before you break your rule again, I would respectfully suggest you take some refresher courses in civics, political science, and logic.

Obama has not done a good job. The middle east is burning, Iran is unchecked, the country is divided, we have lost billions of tax payer's money from giveaways to his corporate cronies ( Solindra), unemployment has been above 8% for years, we have a record number of people on food stamps and disability. The national debt is now 16 trillion. What Romney referred to is that despite such a poor performance 47 % of the citizens would still vote for Obama. Many people who support an individual with that kind of track record obviously are not supporting him because of his accomplishments but rather because they are benefiting from his policies and programs or they have such a visceral dislike of Romney they would never give him a chance. Romney is probably frustrated and realizes no matter what he said or did he will not change the minds of the 47%. I am sure once Romney is elected he as well as those of us who have been pulling the wagon all our lives will continue to do so.

Romney is one of the most honest, moral and nicest guys to ever run for POTUS and this is the best the left can come up with...that he said something that he is standing behind? There is no controversy here. Just like when they tried to say he cut some kids hair...which the "victim's" family said it never happened. Or when he painstakingly built a wind resistant, comfy travel case by hand for his family dog to take on vacation instead of throwing it in a kennel, and he get grief for that but Obama EATS a couple of dogs and it's fine. I don't know why people are so hell bent on defending "Rare I come to an event where I’m like the 5th or 6th most interesting person.” He had his 4 years and he didn't do it. Don't confuse Obama the man with Obama the POTUS. They are two different people.

THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER Two Different Versions…. Two Different Morals
OLD VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.
CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green.’
Tom Koz
11:13 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2012
Continued: ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, We shall overcome. Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.
President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.
Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
Andy Stern and SEIU SUE the Ant, and with the support of Eric Holder Set a Court date for The ant and He is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of SEIU UNION GREEN BUGS and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ants food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

Of course, it isn't the borrower's fault for taking on too much debt. Naah. Evil, predatory lenders are to blame. The bankers lied and cheated as people financed their McMansions. That's why all those homes were repo'd, it was all a plot by the banks. Right, Timmy. Right out of the MSNBC playbook.
Actually is was the collapse of the high risk loan market called credit default swaps that imploded credit back in 2008. We needed leadership to head that off. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank insisted that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were just fine, right up until they went off the cliff.
Also, the so-called predatory loans are a Clinton legacy, where banks were required to lend a certain percentage to 'targeted groups' in order to have a seat at the federal table. These targeted borrowers had less than great credit, so they defaulted in greater numbers.

The Federal Government, or State/Local government for that matter, CANNOT give anything to anybody that it does NOT - with the threat of imprisonment - take from somebody else. As a small business owner, I can tell you that higher taxes do NOT stimulate me to invest more to expand my business, hire additional employees, or provide better benefits/higher wages to my existing employees. In fact – just the opposite is true. I understand the need to “help” those less fortunate – I contribute to various charities. If you and/or others feel such a morale obligation to give more to the less fortunate (less motivated) by all means feel free to donate more of YOUR own money – don’t take mine! If you believe taxes for those in your tax bracket should be higher – donate! ANY Federal Government spending outside of the 18 enumerated powers as outlined in the Constitution is not only WRONG and unconstitutional, it is theft and slavery. It makes individuals a slave to the Federal government.
Everybody has Rights. The Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. You do NOT have the Right to somebody else paying for your Food, Housing, Clothing, Shoes, Cell phone, TV, etc. ..etc... etc..!
And NO you do NOT have the Right to Health Care! If you believe you have the Right to health care you would have to believe that you have the RIGHT to make a doctor/nurse/pharmaceutical company to GIVE you their services for free! Making somebody work for you for free is SLAVERY

As an atheist i see religion as being a detriment to running the country not an asset. If you want religion in your leadership move to Iran. The evangelicals are nut jobs as are the Muslim extremists. The Catholic cult is lousy with pedophiles , while the pope sits on a golden throne as the world starves. TAX these antiquated , fear based cults. They ALL have been handed a license to steal. Don't give me any of that crap about all their good deeds. As a child my family lost literally everything we owned in a flood and when my mother went to the so called "Catholic Charities" after stuffing their baskets with cash for 25 years , they gave us nothing!

Im an atheist as well, and probably donate more to charity than most 'religious' people earn. I wouldn't be surprised if most of my financial help goes to those who still believe in sky fairies.

It's time that Atheism be granted the same status as all other religions.
Atheism, like all religions, is a belief system and is as worthwhile or worthless as any of them. You can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God, nor can one seriously question another American's religious practices or non-practices.
Granting favors to any religion is anathema to those who do not subscribe to that particular faith. This has been repeatedly tested in the courts and the decisions nearly always favor one belief system at the expense and pain of all others.
It's time that the government stop establishing and supporting the religion of Atheism.

Sorry, pal. Atheism is objectively no more valid than any other religion.
It's time to for the courts to stop establishing Atheism as first among all religions.

Right, all those atheists that pay $0 in income taxes, are being 'favored' over other religions who have to pay federal income taxes...
Wait, no. That's actually not true anywhere, is it Tom?
Do you want atheists to pay $0 in taxes, or do you want other religions to pay >$0 in taxes? Take your pick, and I will fully support whichever one as long as they are equal in treatment.

Sorry, Hank. Atheism is objectively no more valid a belief system and way of being than Catholicism, Protestantism, Buddhism, and the rest.
It's just another '-ism', except that this 'ism' has state sanction and establishment.

I do not understand all the hoopla over Romney's 47% comment because he was just stating a fact that those people will most likely not vote for him. In his first election, people believed the hype that Obama was going to turn this country around, create new jobs, blah blah blah. He has been all talk, no action. It is time for some fresh ideas in the White House and Obama's supporters know he has not turned this country around so it is understandable that they make a big deal over nothing.

Get over yourself lady. It was at a fund raiser, stated within the context of obtaining votes. Never meant he doesn't care about that portion of the voting populous. Do you really believe that is what he meant? Do you also believe in the nonexistant "war on woman"? Furthermore, Romney is correct, although the number was probably high. Additionally, do you tout Obama as a role model? Maybe for budding revolutionaries, but not Americans!

That's right. Everything right now, regardless of the consequences, the cost, or who has to pay for it!
Make the minimum wage $55.00 an hour and don't even try and raise your prices to cover the costs Mr. Businessman, you got into business solely to pay your employees, not for evil profits.
Pro Union - Agreed, in private industry but not in government. Not Ever.
Pro Abortion - Hey, you wanna kill your own kid, that's on your conscience. Don't expect me to pay for it though, as it will be on your wallet as well.
Pro Health Care - Rationed care is coming, as the costs associated with Obamacare have already exceeded what the intellectual glitterati thought they would be. The only way to cut costs is to cut care. McCain was right. Sadly.

Tommy the Pirate, help me out here if you will. I've got this mental image of you based on all your rants and I am wondering if you can confirm if I am thinking along the right lines. Here is my mental image, let me know how close I come...
You are a fairly paranoid, occasionally depressed individual who thinks that most people and all government are out to get him. You often have trouble in social settings, meeting new people and have been called socially awkward before. You spend most of your day watching or listening to partisan right-wing fake news, often screaming at the t.v., things like "Yes, Yes Hannity, you get it, you had me at hello". You shed some tears when Beck was booted off Fox. You are an strange combination of dopiness and dumpiness. You are childlike in some ways, holding on to some things from your childhood like playing with G.I. Joes or choo choo trains.
Am I close at all Tommy Boy? Basically I envision you along the lines of the real Tommy Boy, Chris Farley (RIP), just without the comedic skill he had.
Tom Klimczak
12:26 am on Saturday, September 22, 2012
Wow. Tim you totally nailed it. Not even close, bud.
Let me describe you from your scribblings...
Like most liberals, you need to distract from any real argument by impugning the messenger, or changing the subject, since you really can't make a cogent counter argument. You have little trouble in social settings, since you find yourself surrounded by others who share your affinity for the ideas of Marx and Lenin. you no doubt joined the Occupy protests, deriding evil corporations while sipping a Starbuck's and tweeting fellow travelers on your iPhone. You have never even tried to open a business, much less run one. You have no idea the amounts of time and money spent simply complying with government paperwork - all before any revenue generating work can be started. You think that all businessmen are evil profiteers who take advantage of their employees by not paying them like rock stars. In fact. you view all businesses as simply a source of payroll and tax revenue.
You never left your childhood. You're still there. A little kid, still expecting the parents to pick up the tab.
Grow up, Timmy. ...and smile more.
Tim L.

Pirate Boy Tommy, I am smiling, actually laughing, reading all of your right wing conspiracy theory rants from the wee hours this morning. You were like the conspiracy theory energizer bunny you just went on and on and on with your delusional commenting. Was there steam coming out of your ears as you banged away on your computer at 1:00 a.m? Was sweat dripping from your brow by the time you were done?
In terms of not being close on the Pirate Boy mental image, did I nail any of it? I have a funny feeling that I probably got many of your characteristics right. I am having a hard time believing much of what you say because of your willingness to lie in your posts, you have been taught well by your boys at Faux News. You seem to have been taught well, you are like a young lying Faux News jedi in training.
Since I can't trust you is there anyone on these message boards who knows Pirate Boy Tommy? Can you vouch for him and that I was "not even close" in my description of him.

It's time that the U.S. stops being big brother to the rest of the world. Why is it that every time you turn around we're putting our guns and tanks in someone else's face. Stop importing, bring the jobs back home and put Americans back to work. If you want to believe in the Easter bunny or agree with the devil himself who the heck cares. All the millions of dollars we send over seas to feed the rest of the world is disgusting. We have kids that are going to bed hungry every night yet we have no problem opening the purse strings for others. We lag far behind the rest in education and health care is no better off. Our elected officials act like a bunch of spoiled brats who can't and won't work together to better it's own people. It's one way or the highway and both sides are to blame!

Tim L., are there probably a number of racists and homophobes in the TEA Party??? I would bet there are. Just as I'm sure there are some in the Democratic and Republican partties. Question: even if there are racists and homophobes in the TEA Party Sooooo what??? Anybody / everybody has just as much of a right to Hate people of another race or sexual preference as you, or anybody for that matter, has a right to love them!! Just like I have every right to hate stupid pompous liberal progressives. Everyone, lib/progressive types always seem to divert intelligent debate by throwing the race / homophobe card. Suggestion: when that happens say OK - Soooooo What !!
Oh, and Tim, the TEA in TEA Party stands for Taxed Enough Already, so it stands to reason that the Main platform of the party is to not have taxes increased and keep/lower government spending. Can your liberal mind comprehend???
Tim L.
11:58 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2012
Hey KKKoz, thank you for proving my point. There is a party of Hate, where people think it is acceptable that "everybody has just as much of a right to hate people of another race or sexual preference" and thank god I am not part of it. It it this extreme radical right wing mentality that makes you so proud that will doom your party, bet on it. Try as it might for your party to pretend it is inclusionary, your comments and your partisan media outlets that tacitly approve this thinking will be the reason why people will continue to run from your party. What an embarrassment for you and your party that you feel you have a right to hate people based on their skin color, sexual orientation or political views.
Can your confederate flag waving, doomsday bunker building, gun toting, pork rind eating, tea party loving, general lee driving, missing tooth smiling, wife beater t-shirt wearing mind comprehend that???

The firm was founded in 1984 by partners from the consulting firm Bain & Company. Since inception it has invested in or acquired hundreds of companies including AMC Entertainment, Aspen Education Group, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Clear Channel Communications, Domino's Pizza, DoubleClick, Dunkin' Donuts, D&M Holdings, Guitar Center, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Sealy, The Sports Authority, Staples, Toys "R" Us, Warner Music Group and The Weather Channel.
